Outline (Night One): Matmos, Jlin, Pan Daijing (U.S. Debut)

By

Outline returns to Knockdown Center for its first edition of 2023 and its most ambitious

installment yet. The festival bridges the seasons with two nights of music spread across the venue: On Saturday April 29th, Night One fills the Atrium with an internationalist lineup of some of electronic music’s most forward thinking voices. Glitch legends Matmos headline alongside footwork iconoclast Jlin, Chinese operatic noise artist Pan Daijing makes her U.S. debut and experimental Pow Wow vocalist Joe Rainey completes the lineup alongside syrupy dance-pop hybridists Meth Math and Golin. Prepare yourself for a sonic maelstrom both searing and enveloping.

Outline (Night Two): Standing on the Corner, Makaya McCraven, Laraaji, Liv.e

By

Saturday May 13th, Outline’s Night Two opens the Ruins for its summer season with Standing on the Corner, Makaya McCraven, Laraaji and Liv.e. Each presents a deeply steeped, richly textured vision of the avant garde as a place of radiant possibility and cultivated psychedelia. Standing on the Corner and McCraven are well known to anyone following the cutting edge of jazz. Each, in their own way, blends hip hop, incredible ensemble playing and deep emotional expression into something indelibly modern. Laraaji has been an unwavering practitioner of celestial sounds, operating in his own lane for decades, while Liv.e tweaks ’90s R&B for the Web 2.0 era.

Mr. G (live), Jayda G, MoMA Ready

By

Both Mr. G and Jayda G are renowned for their unmistakable sounds and their embodiment of house music’s most essential and expressive qualities. Mr. G has been a household name for over two decades, with classics like “Daily Prayer” and “Transient” perfecting a balance of raw energy with refined, lush soul. Few have mastered the exquisitely unvarnished as much as he has. Jayda G has established herself as an exceptional presence, moving from strength to strength. The Grammy-nominated artist is as beloved in the underground as she is highly regarded in the mainstream. Renowned for her high-energy performances as a DJ, her vitality and boundless enthusiasm set her apart. Her most recent “Blue Lights” EP floats with the softness of a summer breeze while still hitting with a supple punch. New York’s MoMA Ready completes the lineup. Wyatt D. Stevens aka MoMA READY is an audio visual artist & film maker, as well as the Owner of the lifestyle and music label Haus of Altr. His 2019 album The NYC Dance Project broke him onto the scene, landing himself a spot on DJ Mag’s 2019 emerging artists list.
