Production Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

 The Production Manager is responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of all Knockdown Center functions. This includes, but is not limited to, working with administrative staff on scheduling and layering of spaces and events within a very flexible and changing physical space, taking primary responsibility for the technical advance for all activities, maintaining and allocating technical equipment, hiring labor, and managing budgets. The Production Manager is the liaison among Center management, his or her production team, hired labor, rental houses, visiting talent’s production staff, and Knockdown Center’s partners and clients. The Production Manager is sometimes the first, last, and only point of contact between the Center and visiting talent and clients, and must comport themselves in a welcoming and professional manner, helping the Center establish itself as a venue our partners want to work with.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produce the production of all functions with a high degree of professionalism, organization, and with an extremely low degree of technical risk.
  • Must be able to plan extremely complex building-wide days, weeks, and months. Some days can have up to three discrete events, some weeks up to 12 events. Often a large event will dictate the stage or production placement for a week, then 1-3 other events with different capacities and needs will be produced on the same build while delivering excellent customer and artist experiences across all events.
  • EXCELLENT team building, team management, leadership.
  • Develops budget and actualizes expenses on a per show basis, provides cost estimates quickly
  • Supervises our partner and client technical planning to identify and circumvent problems
  • Advances all productions, parking, hospitality, catering, backline, additional audio and lighting, tuning, hospitality, and labor.
  • Arranges for purchase or rental and delivery of all equipment.
  • Maintains accurate information about production equipment inventory and systems
  • Acts as the Technical Director for all spaces.
  • Manages repairs and maintenance of Producrton inventory 
  • Manages relations with production vendors. 
  • Manages load ins and load outs. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 5+ years experience managing productions, staff, & budgets in a variety of formats (music, theater, corporate events)
  • Strong technical skills in one or more areas, including: Audio, DMX lighting, staging, or art gallery exhibition installation/ tech
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to be creative and flexible in responding to changing priorities and emerging needs.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.

Bachelor’s Degree

Knockdown Center:
Facility Manager

We are seeking a full-time Facility Manager to manage our physical plant, and 100 year old former glass factory.

Knockdown Center maintains a renovated 60k sf building on a three acre corner lot. Our building uses a complex and vast array of systems and equipment to execute its goals professionally and carefully, while executing within a network of regulations and permits. A successful candidate will be able to negotiate maintaining a facility that meets or exceeds regulatory statues, emphasizes ease of operation, and also strives to improve guest experience.

This position offers an opportunity for an individual to build upon existing skills in facilities management, staff leadership, maintenance, or construction.

RESPONSIBILITIES
– Oversees building and grounds maintenance.
– Operates and maintains custodial functions.
– Ensures security and emergency preparedness procedures are implemented properly.
– Ensures that the facility is clean and maintained according to company policy and procedures.
– Ensure physical facility is maintains compliance with DOH, DOB, FDNY, SLA and any other regulating authority.
– Handles general accounting tasks, such as invoice reviews and payroll approvals.
– Oversees and supervises the quality of work for other employees to ensure that all tasks are performed correctly, efficiently, and effectively.
– Manages and reviews service contracts.
– Conducts and documents regular facilities inspections.
– Checks completed work by vendors and contractors.
– Recommends maintenance, mechanical, electrical, and facility design modifications.
– Communicates workplace safety precautions to employees.
– Schedules and project manages all fire drills and emergency procedures practices.
– Forecasts, allocates, and supervises the financial and physical resources of the facility management.

Qualifications:
– 5+ years of related experience
– Experience successfully managing subordinates.
– Pays extreme attention to detail, and remains consistently organized.

Given the fast-paced and creative environment of Knockdown Center, and the fact that we are a very small team doing big things, interested candidates should possess the ability to work collaboratively, be comfortable working outside the exact scope of their role when necessary, be proactive, and have a sense of humor. Knockdown Center is a non-traditional venue, and events vary widely across all types of performance, music, parties, and community and cultural happenings. Candidates should be excited about the wide range of possibilities, and have the ability to be versatile in their approach to each event.

Hourly pay commensurate with experience. Range is approximately $35-50 per hour.

Work is on site, mostly Monday through Friday but could require some planned and emergency work on nights and weekends.

This position is located in Queens, New York. Remote applications will not be considered.
