Knock Knock #1

This Saturday, Outline is back at Knockdown Center. The recurring festival is organized in-house by our live music booker Jeff Klingman, and is a direct reflection of his wide and deep listening habits. Jeff has been working in NYC music for many years, and Outline strives to tie together different threads into a lovingly-crafted mixtape, or perhaps a sonic mosaic. Either way, each lineup makes intuitive sense while defying the constricted tenets of algorithmic “if you like that, you’ll like this” pairings. In its considered, personal touch, Outline exemplifies a key aspect of what we want Knockdown Center to be.

This lineup covers a spread of indie rock and adjacent acts, with a strong undercurrent of psychedelia and a burning energy. Crumb headlines. The NY group’s songs glide with an elegance that’s reminiscent of ‘60s-meets-’90s titans like Stereolab and Broadcast while representing a hyper-modern, post-genre quality that effortlessly connects the dots between eras. They’re joined by U.S. Girls, whose ultra-slick pop serves as a vessel for biting social critiques and arch commentary, Palm, in one of the mid-melting psych band’s final performances, the wild post-punk breakout Model/Actriz, pop-soul rising star Grace Ives, Montreal’s incendiary Pelada and the woozy, lovelorn disco-esque Club Intl

Starting out in the Ruins before moving inside at night, this Outline will play like an outstanding college radio show and will also make use of our newly-installed, world class L-Acoustics sound system. Hear some of independent music's most vital voices in exceptional clarity. Last tickets remaining on DICE.
